Kinabalu Park is Malaysia’s first World Heritage with its magnificent focal point, Mt Kinabalu, standing at 4095.2m. Kinabalu Park is among the most important biological sites in the world, with more than 5,000 species of plants, 326 species of birds, and more than 100 mammalian species identified. The trek to Laban Rata (3270m) requires 4-8 hours, depending on individual physical fitness. Take your time to climb and be amazed at the changing vegetation zones from lower to upper montane forest, sub-alpine short conifers, dwarf shrubs, mosses and ferns and finally you get to see close-up the awesome rock face of Mt Kinabalu looming above the mist (weather permits). At 2:30am proceed with the climb (3-4 hours) on naked granite rock to the summit for a chance to catch the stunning sunrise from Low’s Peak (weather permits).

Raincoat, hat, insect repellent, sun block, drinking water, torchlight, binoculars, personal toiletries & medicine, enough warm clothing as temperature could fall below freezing point, windbreaker, waterproof knapsack, extra gloves and socks, energy snacks, deep heat rub, plasters and headache tablets, lip gloss, plastic/waterproof bags to protect your belongings, good trekking shoes, sandals, toilet tissues, water bottle.
